Last Thursday it was my younger brother Patrick's birthday and it just so happened that Nigel was taking the Sneaky Cheats team out to cater an event to launch a new beer at the new Copper Bottom Brewery that just opened in Montague. The brewery is located on top of a hill overlooking Montague River which is located in the south eastern end of Prince Edward Island. I spent a lot of time as a kid growing up in Montague because my mothers side of my family is from there. I haven't been there in years though and it was great to be back even if it was only for a few hours. We had some great food and great laughs accompanied by live music and unlimited beer flowing. If you're ever in that neck of the woods, I highly suggest checking out Copper Bottom.

In another hangout with my bud Jared, we had a couple boys over for a cut and a cup of drink. If you missed the last post, Jared's been inviting his good buds over for a good ol'fashioned hang but with twist. Jared has been working as a barber for over a year now and wanted to have a more intimate place to cut his friends hair and try new techniques that he normally wouldn't feel comfortable trying at Humble Barber in Charlottetown (the barbershop he cuts out of now). You can't hang out and have a beer and play your fav music at any barbershop around here so Jared wanted to offer a spot for his close friends where he could work at perfecting his craft while having a dope spot that friends could chill at with no rush or pressure to do anything. It's all about the vibes and the experience people!
This session featured our friend Nick Macdonald who works as co-owner and personal trainer at Kinetic Fitness here in Charlottetown. The second hooligan you see in the shots with the dashing long hair is Nigel Thompson who's owner and chef smoker extraordinaire behind Sneaky Cheats PEI, a craft catering service based on PEI. It's been awhile since i've made a blog update. As always, I was fortunate enough to take in another smoke out BBQ with my buds here in Charlottetown last sunday. Sneaky Cheats PEI is a craft catering service my good friend Nigel Thompson just started here on PEI. We convinced him to get the guys together for our buddy Skye's birthday and have a lazy Sunday BBQ with the Sneaky Cheats smoker. I've been vegetarian since the first of July (never thought I'd see the day), but sadly I have to admit I caved super early and tasted a lot of these smoked treats Nigel and the guys cooked up. It was well worth it to say the least! haha
We smoked fresh salmon with a lemon, brown sugar and herb rub which was probably the star dish of the day. There were smoked back ribs, smoked bologna sandwiches, some great kale salad, geese, and oh I almost forgot, there was a smoked brie wheel melted over top of some incredible smoked beef.
